About the author:
Kathrin Sombold is a German photographer residing in Egypt since 1994.
Her passion for photography, that she took up at the age of 13, led her to complete a photography apprenticeship in theatre opera, ballet, and portrait photography. Further studies included Communication Design with a major in photography at the University of Essen. She lived in Sharm El Sheikh, Sinai, in the early ’90s, where she collected the material for her first book ‘Sinai People – Faces of Time’, published in 2020 by Diwan Publishing. Now living in Maadi with her family, she works as an artist and freelance photographer. Her interest and respect for Egyptian traditions, community life, and heritage is shown through her work.
