DESCRIPTION:Story Writing Workshop with Mai Serhan\n6 Sessions every Saturday starting 28 Jan\nDiwan\, Heliopolis\n12:00pm\nBook your place here! \nIntroduction to Story Writing Workshop:\nThis intensive story writing workshop will introduce aspiring writers to the main pillars of the story: Place\, People\, Plot\, Purpose\, Perspective & Finding Your Voice.\nWe will be looking at how to write space effectively\, how to set-up a scene\, how to build characters that are convincing and engaging\, how to form a narrative arc\, and what lies at the heart of every story from needs\, wants\, and conflicts.\nSessions will involve reading from world literature\, discussion and analysis\, various writing prompts\, and feedback on writing generated within the sessions. \nSchedule:\nSessions will be every Saturday from 12pm to 3pm at Diwan Bookstore\, Heliopolis.\nJan 28: Write space effectively\nFeb 4: Build engaging characters\nFeb 11: Develop a compelling plot\nFeb 18: Grasp conflict & purpose\nFeb 25: Determine perspective & voice \nAbout Mai Serhan:\nMai Serhan is a writer and translator who is currently pursuing her graduate studies in Creative Writing at the University of Oxford.\nHer poetry\, short stories\, memoir\, and essays have been published widely in regional and international literary journals. She’s been short-listed for the Oxford-BNU Award in Creative Writing\, the Quarterly West Poetry Chapbook Contest by the University of Utah\, and The Lunch Ticket Poetry Contest by Antioch University in Los Angeles.
