DESCRIPTION:Dust: Egypt’s Forgotten Architecture leads us seductively into some of the most breathtaking architectural spaces of Egypt’s recent past\, filled with a sense of both the immense weight and impermanence of history. \nAbout the Photographer:\nXenia Nikolskaya is a Russian-Swedish photographer and visual artist\, based in Cairo\, Egypt. Xenia studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts\, received her MFA from the Russian Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg in 1998\, and her Ph.D. from the University of Sunderland\, UK. Nikolskaya’s work has been exhibited in 20 solo and 40 group shows internationally and is held in prestigious collections\, such as The State Hermitage Museum\, Sveriges Allmaänna Konstförening\, UBS Bank and in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Arts Centre. Newsweek\, GEO\, Cosmopolitan\, and ELLE have commissioned her work. Fulbright fellow\, Nikolskaya was teaching photography at the Russian Academy of Fine Arts\, St. Petersburg State University\, Rutgers University\, New York\, and American University in Cairo. She is currently teaching at the German University in Cairo. Her first book “Dust” has been published in March 2012 with Dewi Lewis Publishing\, UK. During her work as a head of the exhibition department and photo archive at RIA Novosty\, Xenia curated about 50 exhibitions and edited several books\, including “Anatoly Garanin\, Soviet Union” which has been shortlisted Russian National Book Design Contest – Zarkniga. She was also on a jury of The Andrei Stenin International Photo Contest and The Ukrainian Photographer of the year. Her 2nd book “The House My Grandfather Built” was published in 2020 by Nikolskaya-Lund Publishing\, Sweden\, and received the Best Swedish Photobook of the Year Prize in 2021.
